Workplace Accommodations: Low Cost, High Impact
The study results consistently showed that the benefits employers receive from making workplace accommodations far outweigh the low cost. Employers reported that providing accommodations resulted in such benefits as retaining valuable employees, improving productivity and morale, reducing workers’ compensation and training costs, and improving company diversity. These benefits were obtained with little investment. The employers in the study reported that a high percentage (58%) of accommodations cost absolutely nothing to make, while the rest typically cost only $500.

After Violating Ontario’s Disabilities Act for 102 Days, the Ontario Government Appoints Dean Mayo Moran of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law to Conduct Independent Review of Ontario’s Disability Accessibility Legislation
The Government has never publicly explained its 102-day delay in obeying its own accessibility legislati
on, or the poor example it sets for other organizations by its flagrant violation of the AODA. Well in advance, the AODA Alliance had reminded the Ontario Government of its obligation to meet the May 31, 2013 mandatory legal deadline for appointing this Independent Review.

FCC Requires Mobile Phone Manufacturers and Service Providers to Make Internet Browsers Accessible to the Blind and Visually Impaired by October 2013
The accessibility requirements for ACS pursuant to Section 716 and for mobile phone Internet browsers pursuant to Section 718 are both effective on October 8, 2013. However, the FCC determined that the recordkeeping obligations of Section 717 of the Communications Act apply to entities covered by Section 718 and those obligations were effective as of January 30, 2013.
