Wynne Government Ignores Yet another Election Promise to Over 1.8 Million Ontarians with Disabilities

The Ontario Government under Premier Wynne has ignored yet
another election promise to over 1.8 million People with Disabilities. On Thursday, November 6, 2014, the Government appointed a new person to serve as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Government Services for Inclusion and Accessibility. Despite the Government promising three years ago to appoint a fulltime Assistant Deputy Minister for Disability Accessibility in that Ministry, this is NOT a full time disability accessibility position.

Blind Woman Gisele Mesnage Sues Coles Over Online Shopping Website

Coles is facing a landmark claim following an allegation the supermarket giants website does not provide adequately for visually impaired shoppers. Rachel Browne explains.

Gisele Mesnages vision impairment has not prevented her from travelling, completing a university degree or writing a play but buying groceries online is a different story.

Teenager Gets Financial Backing to Make Low-Cost Braille Printer

Thirteen-year-old Shubham Banerjee had to borrow money from his parents to create his first low-cost Braille printer, but he wont need to rely on the kindness of friends and family for more cash any time soon.

Shayne Gets a Kick Out of Football, Despite Everything

Shayne is 23. He lives in North Vancouver, having recently moved into his own apartment. His main interests revolve around being a Capilano University student and football. He has played football for seven or eight years ever since he got a power wheelchair. Before, playing was impossible for him. But once he had the power wheelchair, an occupational therapist at his school suggested he try soccer?uh, footballand an athlete rapidly emerged.

I telephoned South Shore Taxi yesterday to inquire if they had any accessible taxis; the answer was no. The response to my question, why not? was we just dont which was followed by a hearty laugh and the suggestion that I would have to speak to the owner.
