Former Students Suing Provincially Run School for Alleged Abuse
TORONTO Former students of a provincially run school for the blind, deaf-blind and visually impaired are hoping to find justice for alleged abuse and mistreatment that occurred in the past.
I, along with other students, received abuse from the members of the school, namely the supervisory staff, teachers, guidance counsellors and other staff members who were responsible for our well-being, alleged Bob Seed, 68, a former student of Brantfords W. Ross MacDonald School for the Blind formerly known as the Ontario School for the Blind on the steps of Old City Hall Thursday.
Digital Inclusion: The Benefits of Better Web Accessibility
Soon our mobile phones will become the remote control to our homes. If everything feeds through the internet then as a disabled person, all I need is an accessible internet. If I am blind and need everything to speak to me, in the past all of my household appliances would have to have a speaking chip in them, but if my mobile can do it that is a huge game changer.
Is This Venue Accessible?
New Website Tells D.C. Showgoers the Answer
But even legitimate venues pose problems, as ITVA makes evident. Complexities like these serve as a centerpiece of the site.
Guide Dogs Creates New Guidance for Police Officers to Help guide dog Owners
Guide dog owners whose dogs have been attacked will get support that is tailored to their needs thanks to new guidelines agreed between Guide Dogs and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).

StopGap co-founder Luke Anderson explains that the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, passed in 2005 and modeled after the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)yes, thats a 15-year lagallows businesses to wait until 2025 to implement the mandated provisions for built-environment accessibility. He helped start StopGap out of frustration with such a wait on what he sees as a relatively simple fix.
U.S. Department of Justice Continues Enforcement of Accessibility Requirements for Websites and Mobile Apps But Its Rulemaking Still Awaits
With respect to third-party content provided on its website or mobile application, the Peapod settlement requires that Peapod seek a commitment from the vendor to provide content which either conforms, or can be made to conform, to WCAG 2.0 Level AA Success Criteria.
One Year Ago Today We Revealed that the Wynne Government Knew Staggering 70% of Private Sector Organizations with 20 or More Employees Were Violating Disabilities Act, But No Effective Enforcement, Despite Election Promises
One Year Later, the Government Quietly Posts a Paltry Plan for AODA Enforcement that Falls Short of Its 2014 Election Pledge
This is not the detailed plan we were promised. It does not ensure the effective enforcement of the AODA. The Government has promised time and again that the AODA would be effectively enforced.

Dr. Who Helps Ontario Government
By Victor Schwartzman
In an access legislation coup, the Ontario Government under new Minister Brad Duguid has built upon his idea of having The Flash run up to Ontario to solve its AODA implementation problems in one day. He had to build on it because he has had a hard time catching up with The Flash to talk with him.
