Disability Rights Advocate Launches Court Application Against the Ford Government for Violating the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act

He asks the Court to order Ontario’s Minister for Seniors and Accessibility to immediately post on line and otherwise make public the initial recommendations for measures needed to tear down barriers in Ontario’s education system plaguing students with disabilities and in Ontario’s health care system, impeding patients with disabilities, that the Minister received from three advisory committees appointed under the AODA.

Open AIR Access Survey

ONE PERSON of the estimated 4,387 persons with disabilities in Amherstburg was consulted regarding the Open Air weekends planned for May 21 to September 26, 2021 that will restrict access to downtown Amherstburg. The Amherstburg Accessibility Advisory Committee was not consulted.

While the City of Kelowna is touting e-scooters as a viable new way to get around town, they are posing new obstacles for some residents with disabilities.

A Regina woman who uses a wheelchair filed a claim against Rider Express after an operator told her they could not accommodate her wheelchair on the bus.

Province of Manitoba Launches Online Engagement to Gather Feedback on Accessibility Standard for Customer Service

The Manitoba government is launching a new online engagement to gather feedback from Manitobans about their experiences with customer service and to ensure those with disabilities are protected with the same or similar access provided to others, Families Minister Rochelle Squires announced today.
