(“Inclusive”) is an innovation company focused on advancing accessibility of digital media for people with disabilities.?

Inclusive offers technical services of Web video captioning, description and other media transformation. They consult on information and communication issues, policy and practices for organizations. Inclusive also offers training sessions covering a wide range of accessibility topics, many of which are relevant to the AODA.

In Ontario, the Integrated Accessibility Regulation (IAR) will require business, government and education sectors to provide media accessibility on their
websites – including captions on video.

The Integrated Accessibility Regulation (IAR) will soon be Law and some Companies are giving out misleading information regarding Website Accessibility and at its core is a Suite of Tools from Essential Accessibility that is sponsored by March of Dimes.

Federal Government Not Complying with Web Site Accessibility Requirements, Study Indicates

National Federation of the Blind Expresses Outrage, Demands Swift Action

A study that has just been published online in the journal Government Information Quarterly http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/0740624X
has found that of one-hundred Web sites operated by federal government agencies, over 90 percent do not comply with government accessibility guidelines and likely cannot be used by people who are blind or have other perceptual or motor disabilities.

Young Woman Faces Insurance Hoops Due to Father With Huntington’s

When Katie Lingard was taking steps to set up a chiropractic practice four years ago, the soon-to-be graduate couldn’t help but notice she was being treated differently than her classmates by insurance companies who came to their college to drum up business.

Questionnaire Universal Kitchen Design

Currently, the standard design of most kitchens limits the usability of many kitchen functions particularly for people in wheelchairs.
The kitchen is an extensively utilized room in our everyday lives. New technology is being developed, evaluated and commercialized in Canada. The key element is to ensure that the kitchen provided best suits the user needs.

Sarnia City Council and Mayor Distance Themselves From Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s Call for the Proposed Provincial Accessibility Regulation to be Weakened – Get Your Municipality to do the Same!

We are delighted that on the recommendation of Sarnia’s Accessibility Advisory Committee, the City of Sarnia and its mayor have both publicly distanced
themselves from the call by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) to weaken the proposed Integrated Accessibility Regulation which the McGuinty Government is now finalizing. We urge other Ontario municipalities to do the same!
