The Fast Food Menu And A Restaurant’s Duty To A Legally Blind Patron Under The ADA
If restaurants do not provide large-print or Braille menus, they must require their employees to read their entire menu to their legally blind customers.
Failure to read the entire menu (for reasons ranging from an employee’s failure to do so to an employee’s inability to do so because of time constraints, or because the customer did not need to have the entire menu read to her) may result in a restaurant’s liability for a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Can Assistive Technology Make a Website Accessible?

By karl groves On April 19, 2012

Recently there have been discussions surrounding what I call “pseudo-assistive technologies”. For reference, I’m speaking specifically of products like ReadSpeaker, eSSENTIAL Accessibility, and BrowseAloud. 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHARTER OF RIGHTS COMPLETE WITH A GUARANTEE OF EQUALITY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Employing Disabled Key: Onley

Boosting the employment rate for disabled people is key to economic recovery, says Ontario Lt.-Gov. David Onley.

He spoke Monday at the Guildwood Inn in Point Edward during Building a New Workforce, an event to promote the employment of individuals with disabilities.

“I do not believe it is possible for us to achieve economic recovery, as a nation, until, and unless, the issue of unemployed people with disabilities is resolved,” Onley said.

Legacy of Local Musician Jeff Healey to Play On in Accessible Park

Accessible playgrounds have yet to become the standard in the city. The city is waiting for the province to finalize building guidelines under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, which won’t be fully implemented until 2025.

Disable the Label Helping Depressed Students

Students with anxiety, depression and other mental health struggles are more likely now to reach out for help, and their peers are better able to support them as a result of Disable the Label, some said in Chesley recently.

The mental health awareness campaign’s message at Chesley District High School has been even more powerful, students said, because it was spearheaded by one of their own.
