OC Transpo failed to call out stops on bus routes about 25 per cent of the time in June, according to a monthly report released by the transit service.

Bus operators called out stops on bus routes 75 per cent of the time in the period, its lowest rate since the transit service started monitoring in March 2009.

OC Transpo received 20 complaints in June related to stops not being announced.

Three years ago, the Canadian Transportation Agency ordered the transit company's drivers to call out major or requested stops. The CTA said failing to do so would cause an "undue obstacle" for people with visual impairments.

Last March, OC Transpo was fined $12,500 for failing to call out stops on bus routes, the second time it was penalized for this.

In March 2009, it was fined $5,000 after CTA found that drivers failed to call out the stops.
