Description;

On August 14, 2002, Oxford County Council approved the establishment of an Accessibility Advisory Committee for the purpose of providing input into an Accessibility plan for Oxford County, as required by the ODA. At present seven members of the public (majority having a disability), four staff resources including an Accessibility Coordinator and a member of council support this committee.

Some of our accomplishments to date include holding an Accessibility Public Information Forum on May 17, 2005. This was a great way to heighten awareness around accessibility and get the public involved. This forum was well received and our committee is actively planning another forum for 2006.

The County of Oxford adopted the City of London facility Accessibility Design Standards and is actively promoting the use of this document.
