Accessibility Key Issue in Debate Over Sidewalk Snow Plowing
Accessibility advocates charge that city hall must improve its sidewalk plowing drastically if it wants London to be safe, in particular for older folks, young children, bus riders and those who use walkers, wheelchairs and other equipment such as strollers that must be pushed through the snow.
But it’s not cheap.
New AODA Requirement for School Libraries
A new AODA requirement for school libraries came into force on January 1st, 2020. Under the Information and Communications Standards, Ontario school libraries must make all digital or multimedia resources accessible upon request. Moreover, they must do so by making these resources available either in accessible formats or in conversion-ready formats.

The general manager of Y4U Technologies in North Bay has created a platform to solve the issue of building accessibility for those who are blind or partially sighted.
He discovered that high unemployment rates and low incomes are persistent problems among this demographic. One of the reasons for this is inaccessible workplaces.

A new AODA requirement for producers of educational resources came into force on January 1st, 2020. Under the Information and Communications Standards, Ontario producers of educational resources must make all print supplementary learning resources accessible. Moreover, they must do so by making these resources available either in accessible formats or in conversion-ready formats.
Mayor Promises Disabled Londoners Free Travel for Companion
UK: The Mayor of London has today promised a free travel pass to help disabled people get around.
Carers and companions of disabled people would get free travel on all Transport for London (TfL) services, including the Tube, Overground and buses, under the new plans.
eSSENTIAL Accessibility: helping organizations reach, serve and empower people with disabilities.
The eSSENTIAL Accessibility assistive technology app gives those who have trouble typing, moving a mouse, or reading a screen due to a variety of conditions – such as stroke, paralysis or arthritis – the tools they need to navigate the Web. The app is free to the end-user and simple to use.
Organizations that feature the app on their websites are committed to making it easier for people with disabilities to access information online.
